About the Spillway Fund
Taking root
The Spillway Fund formed at the very end of 2014, incorporating as a domestic nonprofit corporation in the State of Maine. But it is an idea many years in the making.
Transcending differences
We believe that environmental, cultural, and philanthropic goals work best when they work together. Connecting the environment and the arts — and injecting a charitable element into the mix — speaks to a broad range of people and can transcend the political, economic, and other differences that too often divide us. Spillway Fund projects are experiments, exploring how this concept might benefit people and the environment.
Looking forward
A charitable and educational corporation, the Spillway Fund will help preserve and protect the natural environment of southern and midcoast Maine by promoting clean energy, supporting sustainable agriculture, and encouraging a passion for the area’s unique natural heritage through arts residencies and education..
